The Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office: Britain's Feline Civil Servant
British prime ministers have a cabinet. Cats have an official title too.

At 10 Downing Street sits a civil servant with longer tenure than most cabinet ministers — the Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office. The role was first recorded in 1929 with a cat named Humboldt. Since then, cats have been quiet members of British political life. In 1997, Larry was officially appointed, and has now served for more than fourteen years, surviving Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak, and Starmer — a true survivor of British politics. Every prime minister comes and goes, but Larry remains on his favorite armchair. He even has his own social media account, posting daily political observations.
