Tucked Tail

Fear, extreme insecurity, seeking safety

Tension
Stressed

Interpretation

The tail is tightly curled between the hind legs, and the cat makes itself small. This is one of the clearest fear signals — like a dog tucking its tail, it means the cat feels threatened and insecure. Common in new environments, around unfamiliar animals, or after loud noises. The cat needs quiet and a safe space — never force it to face what scares it.

How to respond

Don't approach or reach out. Let it hide in a safe corner; place water and food nearby.
